Ah, ready to go to China, mostly and drawing with young kids.

Yesterday I reaped the fruits of my Summer scramble.  The ladies who were in charge of announcements, set up, clean up, kid wrangling and teaching worked flawlessly.  I passed of my church key, and geometry book to my substitutes, asked if there were any last minute questions, and all I got was, "show me again how to undog the door tags." and "How can we pray for you on your trip?"
What a classy bunch of ladies, they are such a blessing to me!  And wiggly son colored in the lines in his class, I didn’t know he could do that, I’ve never emphasized it with him.
At the Barry Stebbing seminar we attended last week, he said that it is good practice to have young children draw geometric shapes, and color them in, but to do it in short bursts, letting them play with color and the process of drawing most of the time.  When I read the "uncoloring books’ series, I got very nervous about asking my older boy to color in the lines.  I think that the way you approach it is important too though, so I’m not banning all coloring books anymore, besides, he usually draws in his sketch book.
