Story of K’s Portrait

M actually took this portrait of K, He had watched me take 40
shots to get a good portrait of her for her 3rd month photo frame.  I
was making supper and not really paying attention on her 4th month
birthday.  M asked if it WAS her four month birthday, then played
busily by K on her blanket as I cooked.
No one was screaming or moving quickly, so I
didn’t attend.

It turns out he’d gotten the camera, and shot 40 pictures, 2
came out spectacularly.  There are a few shots of his thumb, a couple of
the top of her head, and the ceiling.  But they got better as he went
along.  As K started cooing, I looked up, and realized what he was doing.
By that time the thumb shots were bothering him so I gave a few tips.
At least that’s how I remember it, I often jump in too soon.
I hope it did happen that way!

I like digital cameras for children, they get feedback on their
experiments immediately, and don’t have the lag for waiting for film to
be developed to see what they did.  I think M is going to be a very
good photographer, he has the eye.
