Callooh! Callay!

I did NOT clean the house this Friday or Saturday.

I sewed on the boy’s Roman Shades, the dark-green-dragon-matching-shades I’ve been meaning to sew since last December.  And this afternoon I tied them up to "train" them, like putting rags in the hair, but "training" shades is supposed to take 2 days.

And I got them done despite K’s learning to stand up (and she does it instead of sleeping)
and the fact that my in-laws arrive tomorrow and I should have been making the house peaceful and beautiful for all of us.

But by goofing off and sewing, I got to watch TV with the kids while I attached all the little rings; Transformers, Pokemon, and two episodes of Jeeves and Wooster from A&E.  K tried to climb onto my lap to see the needle closer, B eventually was given a bowl of cheerios and told to distract her.  Then I got to use the drill,  the staple gun and the rose pruners.

If the number of tools is an indication of the fun of the project, then I really had fun today.   (I sewed on the rings because the book says not to use ring tape on lined shades.  Since I forgot to follow the complex instructions about the hem, I could have used tape.  But then I wouldn’t have gotten to laugh at Bertie getting taken for a Boggie by the superstitious policeman)  I was going to wait to tie the shades up to train until DH could trim the dowels on the bottom at work with his saw, but then I thought of my rose pruners, they’ve taken down thicker branches than 3/8 of an inch, and they did work!  3 tools! that’s almost as good as a really complex scrap book page on Creating Keepsakes.  (I drool over them, but my own are simple and cheap.  Archival, but cheap)

My in-laws do arrive tomorrow.    DH is changing into his grubby jeans with holes in them to clean the bathroom.  B is reading a chapter to M from Hank the Cowdog volume 20 (B still has lights on privileges, and as M can listen in the dark, B is going for brother of the year.)

I love it when I can see what I did, and it’s still done at the end of the day.  I am one blessed lady.

  1. I have always used ring tapes in the past… but I wish I'd known to train them! Thanks for the tip! Looks like K can't remember how to sit back down! Poor baby– but very cute! I love her fluffy hair.

    Blessings,
