Knitting Charts for a Closed Ring Design

I’m so excited!  There is a free downloadable font from Knitter’s Magazine that lets you type your knitting chart on a word processor.

And, there is a site that is gathering swatches and comments for all of the patterns in the various Barbara G Walker treasuries!  It’s called the Walker treasury Project.

Here is a pdf of a pattern I made up in college to put around the border of a cabled tam, so you can print it out if you want it away from your computer.  DH just transformed it into a JPG for me, so here it is

I have also used in in the middle of ribbing

for my mittens,

it draws in a bit, so it’s important to swatch.  I think it matches the Open Chain Cable from Barbara G Walker’s Second Treasury of Knitting Patterns. Only it runs horizontally, not vertically.

I’ve been meaning to make a fair copy of this available since 1989!

Oh it feels good to dust off old ambitions!
