Fowry Momma.

I was making a Hawaiian Delight cake (one of my Mom -in-law’s recipes) and while using the Cook’s Illustrated fluffy yellow cake recipe (March 2008) instead of the box cake that the recipe calls for worked fine; whipped cream and drained pineapple don’t quiet have enough vanilla flavor and substance to substitute for vanilla pudding mix and dream whip with un-drained pineapple.  I wonder what th  vanilla pudding and dream whip originally substituted for? I wonder how the cake plate gets so dusty between DH’s birthday and Memorial Day…

K was quiet.  Panicking, I quit wondering,  I looked down and exclaimed, “K, you can’t have the cake before I frost it!”

“Fowry Momma.” she replied.

Oh well.  When you make do with two 8 inch round pans and an 8 inch square pan to begin with – pretty cakes are a bit of a stretch anyhow.  I used one of the triangles I’d cut off the square to make an octagon and mended the round with the toddler handful missing.
