35 things about me – because I’ve been tagged

SeventhHeaven tagged me, I hope I’m doing this right

1 My son is even now stalking me with a foam missile launcher, because I haven’t come to play Carcasonne yet.

2 I’m getting up the courage to read more heavy literature; those books tend to end sadly.

3 Whenever someone asks me what my plans are; I wonder what I forgot to do.

4 My son missed.

5 He claims he wasn’t aiming at me.

4b 4 didn’t count, it wasn’t about me.  My birthday is Christmas Day.

5b I am an only child.

6 People used to always ask me if I was spoiled; if I was, would I know?

7 I went to Camp Kerith in the Adirondacks in the summers, with a scholarship from church.

8 I got to meet Madeleine L’Engle when I was 14 because my friend’s mother took classes in NYC, and my children’s librarian Mrs Brock taught me how to look up her address.  She was gracious, even when we knocked over the vase of flowers on her 2nd manuscript of House like a Lotus.  It had to be re-written with a different heroine, but not because of the water spill.  I didn’t like that particular book once it was published though I loved most of the rest of her work.

9 I met DH at AYF in Simpson Memorial Church in Nyack, NY

10 I was 15 on our first date.

11 My son just shot me.

12 I studied chemistry at Houghton college

13 which means I could buy that bumper sticker from ACS, “Honk if you passed P-Chem”

14 I only planted one tomatio this year in the garden: you need two for pollination

15 My son just shot me again – this time he snuck up quietly, although he is gloating noisily at the moment.

16 I learned to knit in High School, because I didn’t want to be someone who could only crochet; I rarely crochet these days.

17 I like to use fine yarn when I knit, it seems easier on my wrists

18 I have carpal tunnel syndrome

19 I used to play the violin; carpal tunnel syndrome cut into practice time

20 My other son keeps teasing me that I need to practice so I can play exercises as hard as the ones he does on flute.

21 My M is sneaking up on me again

22 I am a National Merit Scholar

23 M shot me again; in the butt

24 I’m typing this on a Linux computer that B build with DH from old parts.

25 I enjoy Dr Who; both the old episodes with goofy special effects (especially the Tom Baker years) and the new ones that are so dark and edgy in comparison.  I used to watch the old ones with my Dad on Saturday mornings, now I stay up too late and watch the new ones with DH and B.  It’s fun to the be the Girl Friday.

26 I’m a good shot with a 30 -06, my Dad taught me.

27 DH taught me to drive when I was 24 – both my parents had declared me to be IMPOSSIBLE.

28 I went to China with K.  It was legal, but only I had a passport.

29 I was 5 months pregnant at the time.

30 I’m afraid to write down my goals, because then I feel obligated to finish them ALL – but if I don’t write them down, they fret me too.

31 Whenever I take a personality quiz, I come out smack in the middle.  Myers Briggs used to always come out INTJ, but lately the on-line quizzes come out ENTJ.

32 When I was in college, my jeans gave out at the knee.  Living in HOUGHTON, there were few ways to patch it or buy new (I could have used a catalog, but that didn’t occur to me, as a Freshman, I didn’t have a good on-campus job yet)  So I crocheted a lace patch out of knit-cro-sheen.  It started a mini trend, even a guy wanted a patch on his jeans like mine.   I wonder what I should have charged them all.  Wish I’d taken a picture.  It didn’t keep out the wind, but  it did keep the hole from spreading, and dragging on my leg.

33 I like silver, dangle-y earings

34 DH says I make a mean pizza

35 This is actually the most important part: I’m redeemed by the blood of Christ.

I’m not officially tagging anyone, but if MomCo3 feels inspired, she can consider herself tagged.

That was fun; narcissistic, but fun.

    • I have been well, we went to a party yesterday with a bouncy castle, K asked for cake for breakfast. So far the new ‘get homeschool organized’ method has worked for one whole week. The ragweed is a bit oppressive, but we are trying out different remidies.

I had fun with the 35 points!

    • Its like Settler’s of Cattan, I’m told, only more simple. You have tiles to play with roads, city walls, farmland, and monesteries. You also have little wooden men tokens who are your ‘followers.’ You earn points by setting out followers as highwaymen, monks, knights and farmers, and if the city gets set up right, you get more points from it. B usually beats me because I play too much like a Mom, “Oh, the city would look prettier if it were finished, oh, you got points from it? That’s nice…”

  1. I hate the Meyers Briggs because I’ve never come out the same way twice, and it always makes me feel like I’m wishy-washy. I’m not sure I know 35 things about myself today– does that make me wishy-washy?

    • Dan came up with 1/4 of my points, I looked over at him and said, “Umm.” frequently.

I like the personality tests that call me a bridge mind better. But those things sure don’t flatter me often; I came out as a shark once in an inventory at Trinity, Dan was a Teddy Bear!
