Puzzles and Cake

While we were at Rhinebeck, the APL held it’s book sale, and K bought some jig saw puzzles.  Since I wasn’t home to use my sewing desk (and I almost never use my sewing desk during the school year, so it didn’t matter – but Mom felt anxious to clear it anyway) they used my desk.  Mom came over a few times in the evening to work on it.  It felt like the holidays

We left her a piece to put in – but someone would always pass by and put it in, so when she did come over to do the final honors, it was a different piece.

no one will read K's mind while she does baking experiments - she's wearing a tin hat.

K asked me this morning,”Mom, can I bake without a recipe?  I know the rules: clean up a mess, get a grown up to put the cake in the oven for me, wear protective clothes.”

“you mean an apron?”

“Yes, protective clothes, like a paint smock.”
