New Scrapbook and co-op management

This morning I can travel to the scrap book store sans kids, to buy a new mini book to fill with favorite pictures to take to China with me, so I can look over my family from far away.  What fun!

I have a hard time scrapping if I don’t have a specific project in mind, and a waiting book to house it in.  I wish I were more "by the page" but I can’ t be someone else.  Most of our photos are digital anyway, so they don’t take up much space on cd, and they are all dated automatically.  I also save my journals and calenders, so the pressure to get it all in a book is missing.  My kids do love to see themselves on the page though, so there is that pressure.

Now if I can sort through all the options, not buy stuff I don’t need, not buy another how to scrap book book, and find some pictures of my mother, I’m golden.

When my friend that I am accompanying to China finally got her referral for adoption, I knew I’d be gone during prime co-op time.  I also know that I won’t be up to giving announcements, handling questions from new members, or writing schedules in February, because that is when Guest Baby #3 is due.

I sent out a general "will someone cover me?" plea by e-mail, then a more targeted one to the members who can "think group."  The ones who weren’t marrying off a child, handling a parent’s sickness or not feeling themselves able to do leadership, joined me at a local park for a picnic lunch while the kids ran wild.  This is favorite meeting format #2, first favorite being a night meeting while husbands put kids to bed, but that gets hard.

We divided up the jobs I usually do, and C took most of them. She has lots of experience running organizations, she used to head up her church’s 106 member girl’s Wednesday night club.  Her first welcome speech and informational e-mail were winsome and short.  Perfect.
