What Eagle’s Wings is doing Next Semester

Now this is going to sound totally wimpy.

I just facilitate the planning meetings, I’m not always sure what we are going to turn up as a focus for a semester, but as this particular co-op director, guiding the flow of ideas and organizing the paperwork when we are done is my job.  That, and imagining what might be annoying, inconvenient or against the church’s insurance’s policy, and coming up with ways of dealing with it, or asking for ideas…

I once asked my mother if the management experience I’m getting would look good on a resume in 18 years or so when I’m done homeschooling K – assuming she is our last – and my mom said no (!)  in managing people in a workplace, they actually have to do what you tell them to, so my concentuss building experience is totally different.  Oh well, who knows what I’ll want to spend most of my time on in 2026 when I’m 56.

After planning meetings, I am often surprised at what we came up with.  We appear to have a smaller group of families this semester than other years, and to be centering on elementary to middle school.  The high school families have hard choices to make about Friday mornings, the families with younger kids need to take naps in the afternoons, combining the age ranges doesn’t happen gracefully even if a family has children spread through both.  However, the Summer is young yet, I fully expect to have 3 or 4 families join us at about the time I’ve finished the schedules and assigned parent jobs.

So, first hour, the nursery and pre-k,k age are doing their own thing, early elementary are learning old fashioned play ground games outside, the mid elementary are taking my term paper class, the older kids are going through the Fallacy Detective (Logic) books

Second hour, nursery and K are again doing their own things, 1-3 grade are making lap books about different animals, and everyone else is trying to earn presidential physical fitness certificates.  We put the active part just before going home so the young teens don’t have to sit in a classroom when they need a shower, they can sit in their cars when they need a shower.

I sure hope we don’t have a rainy Fall.
