Chirstmas Crafting Fair prep

Each year when Eagle’s Wings Co-op is over, the next Friday is Christmas Crafting Fair.  Same time, same church building, different co-op.  I’m not in charge.

Its perfect for families who like group activities, but like to do things with their children, not teach groups of other people’s kids.  Everyone pitches in $3.00 per child.  Those families who are crafting bring enough supplies for their craft for the (55) kids who are coming (they get re-embursed from the $3.00 per kid) the families that don’t craft bring (hopefully not too sugary/artificial) snacks.  We play Christmas music.  The little girls often dress up in red velvet – those Christmas dresses get outgrown after the photos, might as well get glue/glitter/stamping ink on them first!  (Wow, I have a little girl to put into red velvet now!  I wonder if she’ll be the red velvet type?)

I am manning a craft table.  My mom found instructions for Chinese stars, folded out of strips of paper.  (Mom’s tutorial only has to tuck under at the end, but this link is pretty close)
I figured that if they were pierced and threaded onto a head pin, then tied to a ribbon, it would be like an earing for a Christmas tree.
(My jade plant is standing in for a Christmas tree at the moment.)

My sister in law helped me pick out the findings and tools at Michael’s while we were at my In-Law’s house this Thanksgiving.
I love any craft that requires tools.
Sometimes walking through a hardware store or custodian supply place makes me excited about house up keep.  It’s all about the toys – Tools rather.

I’ve practiced on some folks from different age groups – the star folding and denting is going to take some heavy duty explaining, and I’ll need to work with the little ones a lot.  No kid gets to use the paper piercers though, those things are lethal.
